Registered Nurse (CVICU RN) - Florence, South Carolina

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, 7 AM - 7 PM)
  • Holiday Rotation: Yes
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to like units/sister facilities (agency floats first)
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: No local travelers accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year (preferably 2 years)
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license required prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • BLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Experience Required: Cardiac and Neuro experience

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Must include: SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3
  • International background checks required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification not required for this facility

Certifications

  • ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification (AHA or ARC only)
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit (AHA or ARC only)
  • Chemo certification not required for this location
  • IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable
  • State License Verification (Primary Source) required
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Certifications must not expire within 30 days of start

Health Documents

  • Initial physical exam, updated annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing roles

  • First Day Instructions and OurDay Modules (must be completed prior to start)
  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Signed Assignment Acknowledgment, Code of Conduct, Employee Confidentiality Agreement, HR Policy Manual, Systems User Agreement, User Access Request, Job Description, HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • MINI Orientation review and acknowledgement
  • Employee Info form completed prior to start

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Radiation badge required for OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Radiology travelers (not required for MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound)
  • Work history verification not required for this facility

  • Approval for block scheduling can be requested but is not guaranteed
  • All required documents and certifications must be current and uploaded as instructed
  • Failure to complete required modules or submit documentation may result in being sent home or delayed start

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with cardiac and neuro experience who hold the appropriate South Carolina licensure and certifications, and who are comfortable with floating and working a day shift schedule with holiday and weekend rotations.
