Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVICU RN)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) RN
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM, Nights)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holiday rotation
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities; agency staff floats first
Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year required (preferably 2 years)
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
- BLS (AHA or ARC only)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Experience Required: Cardiac and Neuro experience

Required Documentation & Compliance
Background Checks
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include: SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, International searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification not required for this facility
Certifications
- ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification required and must be valid beyond 30 days from start
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as applicable (check with team)
- Chemo certification NOT required for this location
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required
- IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable
Health Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing roles
Facility Specific Documents
- Photo for badge (passport-style, frontal view)
- Signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, user access request, job description, HIPAA confidentiality agreement
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
- Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
History & Verification
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Radiation badge required for certain departments (OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Radiology) but NOT for MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound
- Work history verification not required for this facility
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have all required licenses and certifications valid beyond 30 days from start date
- Floating expectations are consistent with current staff nurses
- Facility allows one shift call-off every two weeks
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel assignment
- Orientation modules must be completed on a computer/laptop, not a phone
- Flu vaccine documentation deadline is December 5th during flu season; failure to comply may result in leave without pay
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with cardiac and neuro experience who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities in an acute care setting.
