Job Description
- Position: Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician
Required Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT Certification (for Radiology)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, required for relevant units including Cardiology and Respiratory
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, required for almost all clinical staff
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, required for select units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU RNs
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Required for Labor and Delivery (AWHONN Advanced or NCC C-EFM within 2 years)
- State License Verification – Must be run within 30 days prior to start; no temporary or emergency licenses accepted without approval
- NURSYS Verification – For RNs and LPN/LVNs only, within 30 days prior to start
- Tech Certification Verification – ARRT required for Radiology; Medical Assistants do not require tech certs
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:
- Counties Lived/Worked
- Statewide, National Sex Offender, National Criminal, OIG Sanction Search, SAM.gov, OFAC
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be completed 30 days prior to start
- Sex Offender Search must include all aliases, completed 30 days prior to start
- Education Verification: 3rd party verification of highest level of education required; diploma can be used as placeholder if verification is pending
- Transcript/Diploma upload required unless education verification is already on file
- Employment Verification: 7 years of work history required, must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start; no pending verifications allowed at start
- Two references required: one from a supervisor/manager within 12 months, second within 3 years
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Pass/Fail Testing (administered onsite):
- Required for all RN specialties, EKG Techs, Cath Lab Techs
- Includes Telemetry Competency and Medication Exam (80% passing score required)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – 80% passing score required for all RN & LPN positions
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – 80% passing score required for all RNs (exceptions apply)
- Phlebotomy Competency Exam – Required for PCT/PCA
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) – Required annually with 80% passing score; covers National Patient Safety, HIPAA, OSHA topics, Infection Control, Ethics, Patient Rights, and more
- Color Blind Testing – Ishihara test must be completed within 1 year of assignment start
Health & Immunization Requirements (Must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Physical Exam or Statement of Health (within 12 months)
- Fit Mask Test (N95 or equivalent) – annual requirement for clinical positions
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (annual Quantiferon Gold or T-spot within 6 months)
- Proof of vaccinations or immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B surface antibody or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel within 30 days of start (no pending or rapid tests accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination (mandatory, no declinations accepted)
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Completed series with booster if eligible (no declinations or partial series accepted)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility self-learning module and post-test (100% score required)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for applicable roles
- Valley Health ECG Foundations for ECG Interpretation exam (for RNs preparing for onsite testing)
Additional Notes
- All license verifications and background checks must be current and completed within specified timeframes prior to start.
- Candidates must be prepared to provide information for ID badge creation during orientation.
- Employment application must include full name with middle initial and cover the last 7 years of employment with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a reputable healthcare system in New Jersey with a 13-week travel contract in the Radiology/Cardiology specialty as an IR Tech. Compliance with all certifications, background checks, health requirements, and competency exams is mandatory for consideration and continued employment.
