Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Unit: Cath Lab at West Ashley Pavilion
  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8 day shift)
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Possible to float to similar units
  • Number of Cath Lab Rooms: 2

Types of Cases

  • Cardiac Implant Closure Device
  • Diagnostic Caths (Adult)
  • Right heart cath
  • Arrhythmia induction
  • Cardiac ablation
  • Baseline measurements
  • Cardioversion
  • Conduction studies
  • Pacemaker insertion
  • Insertion/programming of AICDs
  • Preferred: Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz Monitoring, Scrub Procedures

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year
  • First-timers: Accepted
  • Licensure: South Carolina RN license or multi-state/compact license required at start of contract
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA only)
    • Radiation badge must be provided by agency before start
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within 60 miles radius
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Required searches: SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if pending
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers check

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS, BLS certifications must be current (not expiring within 30 days of start)
  • State license primary source verification required
  • NURSYS verification required for RN licenses
  • Radiation badge required before starting clinical work; may take 5-7 days to process
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke, IV Therapy for LPNs) as applicable

Health & Immunizations

  • Physical exam updated annually
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Facility Specific

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Proof of 2 clinical references and complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers

Important Notes

  • Candidates cannot start without a radiation badge if required; badge processing may delay start
  • Travelers must complete all required modules and documentation before orientation or risk being sent home
  • During hurricane season, new or extended assignments may be affected by emergency response needs
  • Facility may require additional documentation or verification based on individual circumstances
