Registered Nurse (Stepdown/PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet facility, Level I Trauma Center
Beds: 562 staffed beds
Position Details
- Specialty: Stepdown/PCU Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (18:45 - 07:15), option to accommodate 4x12s if preferred
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in relevant setting (first-timers not accepted)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Will float as needed within scope
- Local Candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
- License: Must have active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree or transcript)
- State-specific criminal and registry searches as required by Illinois
- Primary source verification of certifications and licenses (including NURSYS)
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo required before start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or documented immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Professional references (2) required for clinical candidates
- Skills checklist required for clinical candidates

- Parking permit required (no cost)
- Facility can accommodate latex allergies
- Candidates must be able to perform core functions without restrictions
- No international fingerprinting; fingerprints must be completed in Illinois if required
This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown/PCU RNs with strong telemetry, cardiac, neurological, and critical care skills looking for a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.
