Dietitian - Temp Position

Location: Windsor, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide holiday coverage; must work two of the following holiday periods:

  • Thanksgiving and the Friday/weekend after
  • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and the Friday/weekend after
  • New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day and the Friday/weekend after
• Extensions ending in November or before December holidays will not be considered for extension into 2026
• Reports to Food Services Director
• Patient population: All ages
• Must be able to move independently

Position Expectations

• Evaluate, assess, and plan nutrition care to meet patient needs
• Assess patient nutritional status using medical information and standards
• Counsel patients and families on nutrition-related problems
• Develop and monitor nutrition care plans and instructions
• Identify inpatients at nutritional risk and document recommendations
• Diagnose and develop interventions for malnutrition
• Participate in physicians' rounds, discharge planning, and nutritional conferences
• Conduct education programs for patients, community groups, and staff
• Precept and mentor new or existing staff in clinical specialty area
• Develop therapeutic relationships with subspecialty care teams and providers
• Cross-cover multiple patient care areas and subspecialties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Orientation & Work Conditions

• Non-billable orientation: 8 hours
• No call, call-back, or charge responsibilities for this assignment
• Overtime multiplier: 1.25x
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated; call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years current hospital dietitian experience
• Experience in rural hospital settings required
• Current Vermont Dietitian license
• Current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from an accredited college/university
• Must have permanent address included in profile
• Must have own vehicle for this assignment
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; no scheduling requests accepted after offer
• Work history and skills checklist (updated within 1 year) required
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past 2 years required
• License and certifications must be uploaded with profile
• BLS (AHA) certification required

• 35-bed critical access community hospital
• Located in Windsor, VT, near outdoor recreation and within driving distance of Boston, Montreal, and New York
• Features 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Includes therapeutic pool, physical therapy department, acute care, transitional care, and hospice services
