Description

Radiology Tech - Generalist (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • 5x8 hour shifts, Nights 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Alternating weekly schedule:
    • Week 1: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
    • Week 2: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sun

Job Description

  • Perform general radiography independently in Emergency Department and inpatient portable imaging for both pediatric and adult populations
  • Equipment used: Fuji Emergency Room equipment, Carestream portable units (ER and inpatient)
  • Daily caseload varies depending on ER and inpatient portable volume

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of radiology tech experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Weekend shifts every other weekend required
  • No on-call required
  • Must have active ARRT certification and state licensure prior to start
  • Pending state license accepted but must be active before starting
  • Must be able to accommodate block scheduling
  • No floating to sister facilities

Certifications & Licenses

  • Active ARRT certification
  • State license verification required (primary source verification within 30 days of start)
  • ACLS, BLS, and other certifications as applicable depending on unit (check unit description)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within required timeframes
  • Education verification and foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
  • Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB test or chest X-ray, Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination preferred
  • Annual background and competency exams as required
  • Color blindness testing required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024
  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps over 90 days
  • Skills checklist and work history verification within 12 months of start

Additional Notes

  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required (e.g., Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Pressure Injury Training, Language Services, Suicide Risk Assessment, Pyxis MedStation, Baxter Pump Training, Patient Bedside Rounding, Ventricular Assist Device Awareness, Blood Administration, New Employee Orientation, 21st Century Cures Act, ED Handbook, eCart Training, Chaperone Policy Training)
  • EPIC testing or training required for RNs with EPIC experience
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm required for RNs except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU

This position is ideal for radiology technologists with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working nights and every other weekend in a high-acuity, Level I trauma center environment. Candidates must maintain all required certifications, licensure, and health documentation to comply with facility and state regulations.
