Certifications Required

  • ACLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • BLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • PALS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • NRP (AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society)
  • Chemotherapy (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN or NCC-EFM, if required)
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if required)
  • State License (RN license verification including NURSYS)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification (3rd party) for all candidates
  • State-specific searches (Washington and Oregon) as applicable
  • Drug Testing: 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year employment in last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
  • Employment Application: Last 5 years of employment (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
  • Skills Checklist: Annual update required for applicable units
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates, updated annually (exceptions apply)
  • Immunizations:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Flu Vaccine (required during flu season or declination accepted)
    • COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Respirator Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, annually updated

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Floating Policy Acknowledgement (may be required to float to nearby Providence facilities)
  • Badge Photo: Passport style with neutral background required
  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp Modules:
    • Core Modules for Oregon RNs/LPNs (ER, ICU, L&D, OR, MedSurg, etc.)
    • Specialty Modules for ER RNs
    • Annual Regulatory Modules
    • Additional modules as required by specialty and region
  • Epic Training Modules: Required for all candidates prior to or shortly after start
  • Providence Contingent Worker Kronos Job-Aide & Attestation Form (if applicable)

Additional Notes

  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • Candidates with international education must provide transcripts/diplomas and may provide CES report while education verification is pending
  • Returning candidates with less than 30-day gap may not require new background or drug screen
  • Some certifications and requirements may be waived for non-clinical or remote candidates
  • Compliance with all state-specific licensing and background checks is mandatory

This position offers a structured travel nursing opportunity in a well-established acute care hospital with a focus on emergency nursing. Candidates should be prepared for weekend shifts and block scheduling with a 1:4 patient ratio. Compliance with Providence Health and Services policies and documentation requirements is essential.
