Description

Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel/Contract

Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
Beds: 104 staffed beds
Charting System: Epic
Scrub Color: Any color allowed on all units
Parking: No fee


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks (interpreted as weeks)

Job Details

  • Position floats between units
  • No on-call required
  • Weekend work required on a rotating basis with 2-3 SLPs
  • No block schedules required
  • Expected caseload ratio: 1 SLP to 6-8 treatments per day
  • Acute care experience required
  • Experience with Inpatient Rehabilitation (IPR) preferred
  • Preferred skills: MBS (Modified Barium Swallow), FEE (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation) trained
  • Independent and quick learner preferred
  • No time off (T/O) preferred
  • 48-hour workweek not approved

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (if required)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (if required)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (if applicable)
  • State professional license (valid for Washington)
  • NURSYS verification for RNs (if applicable)
  • Other certifications as required by clinical track or unit

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • WA State Patrol Search (WSP/WATCH) required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for certain facility types
  • Washington OBRA Registry Search required for CNAs working in Skilled Nursing Facilities (not applicable for SLP)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination forms accepted:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Competency exams required by profession/specialty
  • Color Blind Testing if required by unit
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Epic training modules required (completion prior to or shortly after start)
  • Providence WorkRamp modules (pre-start, specialty-specific, annual regulatory) required based on role and region

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Modules and training assigned via Aya's LMS platform, WorkRamp
  • Non-clinical and remote candidates have reduced requirements for some certifications and health documents

This position is ideal for an experienced, independent SLP with acute care and inpatient rehab experience, comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment with weekend rotations and floating between units.
