Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements & Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • First Time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Required Experience: Neuro, trauma, ortho, and robotics experience mandatory
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • EPIC experience required

Schedule & Call Requirements

  • Work 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
  • No guaranteed block scheduling
  • 1-2 calls per week (Monday - Thursday)
    • Call starts after your shift and lasts until 07:00 the next morning
    • 30-minute callback response time required
  • 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks (call only, no scheduled weekend shifts)
    • Call starts at end of shift Friday and lasts until 07:00 Monday
  • Work 1 of 2 major upcoming holidays (call only, per department need)
  • No Return to Office (RTO) around Christmas and New Years can be approved
  • Maximum RTO allowed: 7 days

  • Candidates will be pre-screened by clinical staff for clinical fit
  • Manager interview required for final decision

Required Documentation & Compliance

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check required within 30 days of start
  • PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; must be renewed every 5 years
    • Candidate may start with fingerprint results pending but must have results on file within 45 days or will be removed from assignment
  • Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts required
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years of start; candidate may start with results pending but must have results on file within 45 days
  • Pennsylvania PATCH (PA Access to Criminal History) search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • State License verification (primary source online)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for all RNs except OR and Home Health

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Mumps - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B - positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year of start (Aya requirement only)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption required annually
  • COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption or declination accepted

Facility Specific Documents

  • Passport-style photo for badge (professional appearance, solid background)
  • Medical Statement Non-Employee Ability to Work form within 90 days of start
  • Review and sign:
    • Commitment to Health & Wellness
    • Code of Conduct
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Non-Employee Affidavit
  • Completion of WellSpan LMS modules and new hire orientation required

References & History

  • Two professional references required within 3 years of start
  • Most recent resume/application required
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Performance evaluations completed onsite by unit managers during assignment

This position requires strong neuro experience and the ability to work a demanding schedule with call responsibilities, including holidays and weekends on call. Compliance with extensive background checks, certifications, and health documentation is mandatory.
