Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year required
• First-timers: Not accepted
• Patient Ratios: 1:5
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
• On-call: Not required
• Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units or locations within the system
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM for Labor & Delivery)

Immunizations & Health Requirements

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with strict documentation
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (valid for 5 years)
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months prior to start
• Titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required but recommended if available

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 90 days of start
• Monthly HHS/OIG checks required
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
• Education verification required; candidates from certain institutions are not accepted (list available upon request)

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references from authority figures within the last 12 months
• Current employment application/resume dated within 90 days of start
• Auto insurance required for Home Health roles
• Facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, and attestation forms must be completed

• Contracted hours are guaranteed
• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Travelers must be prepared to float to other units or locations within the hospital system
• Strict compliance with immunization, background, and licensing requirements is mandatory for assignment start and continuation
