Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Melbourne, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year required
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Patient Ratios: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
- On-call: Not required
- Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units or locations within the system
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM for Labor & Delivery)
Immunizations & Health Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with strict documentation
- Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (valid for 5 years)
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months prior to start
- Titers required within 5 years for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required but recommended if available
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 90 days of start
- Monthly HHS/OIG checks required
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
- Education verification required; candidates from certain institutions are not accepted (list available upon request)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from authority figures within the last 12 months
- Current employment application/resume dated within 90 days of start
- Auto insurance required for Home Health roles
- Facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, and attestation forms must be completed
Notes
- Contracted hours are guaranteed
- Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Travelers must be prepared to float to other units or locations within the hospital system
- Strict compliance with immunization, background, and licensing requirements is mandatory for assignment start and continuation
