Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience & Patient Population
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers accepted)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Setting
- Telemetry unit
- Common diagnoses: CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Ratio/Census: 1:4-5 nurse to patient ratio; 36 rooms with average daily census of 35
- Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Requirements
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes
- Call: None
- Holidays: No holiday RTO will be approved
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted (NIH preferred)
- Other certifications may be preferred or required depending on specialty (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification)
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units; 3 attempts allowed)
Clinical Screening
- Candidates will undergo a clinical screen to determine fit before final manager approval
Orientation
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 13 weeks = 13 hours)
Health & Background Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification and criminal checks
- Physical Exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Within 12 months of start; can start with TB test pending if TB questionnaire on file
- TB Questionnaire: Required annually for all candidates
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Flu Vaccine or Declination: Required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
- Facility Policies: Candidates must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
