Job Details

- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Targeted 1:2 ratio on 36-bed units
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- EPIC experience required
- Must have or obtain an Ohio nursing license before contract begins (license not required at time of application)
- Travel experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Certifications & Competencies Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, must be current and updated annually
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips; must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting
- Experience with arterial lines (A-Lines), ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs (arterial blood gases)
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required
Work Schedule & Floating
- Must work every other holiday (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day counted as separate holidays)
- Must be available to work every other weekend/holiday
- Floating is required at Premier Health Partners’ discretion; may float between main campus and nearby campuses within 15 miles
- Overtime paid after 48 hours for 48-hour contracts
- Premier Health reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census, and may cancel contract with 2 weeks' notice without penalty
Unit Environment
- Work involves telemetry, drips, and ventilators
- Typically 36-bed units with 1:2 patient ratio
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- I-9 and E-Verify attestation required
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required
- Fingerprinting required only for select units (not required for CVICU)
- Education verification required
- Physical exam within 2 years, fit to work and free of communicable diseases
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Drug screening within 12 months, including marijuana panel; random drug screening during orientation week possible
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years (1 must be manager/supervisor/charge RN)
- Current resume/application required
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific exams required within 2 years
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year or must be passed within 72 hours of contract signing (3 attempts max)
Additional Notes
- Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to medically appropriate units within the hospital system
- Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives
- Request for time off (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; no RTO added after offer
- RTO approval is at manager’s discretion
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs who are comfortable with telemetry, ventilators, and critical care drips, and who have strong EPIC skills. Flexibility for floating and holiday/weekend work is required.
