Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Canton, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained prior to start
- Must have Epic electronic health record experience
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation
- Must work at least every other holiday
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable
- NIH Stroke Certification: AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only; must be updated annually
- Pass/Fail Testing: ECG and medication competency testing during orientation (SafeMedicate and ECG rhythm recognition)
- Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Licensure & Background Checks
- Primary source verification of nursing license within 30 days of start
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide)
- National Sex Offender Registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
- HHS/OIG (monthly)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination documentation
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
Orientation & Facility Requirements
- Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
- Must complete facility-specific security access forms prior to start
- Must carry government-issued photo ID at all times during assignment
- Must complete SafeMedicate and ECG rhythm recognition testing during orientation with passing scores
- Must have at least two professional references from the past year (manager, supervisor, ANM, director, or charge nurse)
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty
Additional Notes
- Candidates with a gap of less than 40 days between Cleveland Clinic assignments may not need to repeat physical, eye exam, or modules
- Candidates must be aware that fingerprinting results may take up to 30 days to process
- Candidates must be prepared to work at least every other holiday during the contract
- All requirements are non-negotiable
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, with strong Epic experience and current certifications, seeking a night shift travel assignment in Canton, Ohio.
