Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Start: Can start pending Virginia license; must verify VA license application.
- Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Call: One night per week and one weekend per month
- Call hours: 5:30 PM - 6:30 AM (Mon-Fri), 24 hours (Sat-Sun)
- Department: General nuclear medicine studies including bones, renals, gastric emptying, GI bleeds, HIDAs, thyroid uptake/scan, parathyroids, VQ perfusions, cardiac and EPT/CT
- Daily Caseload: 15-18 patients
- Rooms: 4 rooms plus PET/CT
- Patient Ages: Adolescents through geriatrics (all ages)
Job Duties
- Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses for radiologists
- Administer radiation to patients as part of procedures
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience; must be able to work independently
- Skills: IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, PACS
- Nuclear Medicine Procedures: Cardiac, bone scan, brain scan, lung scan, renal flow, thyroid studies, SPECT, myocardial imaging
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- NMTCB certification required (ARRT preferred)
- Licensing:
- Virginia license required OR
- Proof of VA license application and active license from another state
- Preferred: Seasoned travelers preferred; first-time travelers considered if very experienced
- EPIC Class: Radiology CT online on unit
- Scrub Color: Pewter Grey
Vaccination Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Medical or religious flu vaccine exemptions allowed but must comply with CMS guidelines and be approved by agency
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID carried during work hours
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification
- Drug screen (11-panel) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask brands accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for certain units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Flu vaccination documentation or approved exemption
- Radiation badge attestation for applicable roles (note: new badges not provided by agency)
- References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, parking forms, and orientation materials
- EPIC training modules (some candidates may need to complete 61 modules before start)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
- Candidate must complete all required facility-specific policies and acknowledgements prior to start
- Facility requires review and signature of multiple policies including infection control, confidentiality, and patient safety goals
This position is ideal for experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologists who are licensed or in the process of obtaining a Virginia license and are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced hospital environment with a diverse patient population.
