Description
Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1830-0700 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday OR Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- First-time travelers accepted
- Weekend work required
- Pending state license accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
- Guaranteed hours
Certifications
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit description)
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check (must be updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency if applicable
- Transcript or diploma verification (official transcripts required if education verification unavailable)
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start (MRI Tech state license not required)
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Competencies & Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, all ICU units except Neuro ICU, SICU, NICU)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly preferred for pediatric, L&D, postpartum)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, vaccine series, or declination within 1 year
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history; boosters if low titer
- Drug testing: 10 panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccine series preferred
Facility-Specific Training & Compliance
- Multiple mandatory training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
- Stroke Education
- CLABSI Prevention
- Preventing Pressure Injury
- Language Services
- CAUTI Education
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment
- Pyxis ES MedStation
- Baxter Pump Interoperability
- Patient Bedside Rounding
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
- AME Blood Administration (annual update required)
- New Employee Orientation
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for MRI Techs)
- Chaperone Policy Training (updated 5/24/2024)
Additional Requirements
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for MRI Techs and other specified units (updated if 30-day gap between assignments)
