Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Facility: Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (3 West) - 30 beds
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM, 3x12 hour shifts
- Schedule: Rotating weekends, float required across all facilities as needed
- Holiday Coverage: One holiday and one holiday eve required (greatest day shift need on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted
- Unit Focus: Care for medical neurological patients with centralized cardiac monitoring
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification
- Neuro Progressive Care Unit experience required
- Skills with CVA, External CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, Yale Swallowing screen
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
Scheduling
- Staff scheduled in 6-week periods via self-assisted scheduling system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
- Fingerprinting (NC SBI Fingerprint Results) required for Home Health and Long-Term Care only
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 60 days of start
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)
- EPIC test required for RNs and allied candidates (2 attempts allowed, 80% passing score)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, 2 attempts max)
- Annual skills checklist with a 1-week grace period for renewal
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B titer or declination required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
Additional Requirements
- 2 supervisory references required from clinical positions (within 12 and 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years
- Review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire)
Important Notes
- Zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline: 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
- All travelers subject to float across all Cone Health facilities if needed
- One holiday and one holiday eve shift required during holiday period
