Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

• Shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• Call may be required
• Floating between various OB areas may be required
• Weekend shifts: Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience required (1st time travelers accepted)
• Skills and competencies:

  • Management of vaginal deliveries and complications (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage)
  • Scheduled, urgent, and stat C-sections
  • Phase I and II post-anesthesia care
  • ACLS, BLS, & NRP certifications required
  • Fetal heart monitoring required
  • AWHONN beginner and intermediate required; advanced preferred
• Self-scheduling with manager approval required for shift changes and time off
• Required to clock in/out and confirm time weekly
• Minimal holiday time off; must work at least one major holiday unless agreed otherwise

Systems & Support

• Pyxis medication system
• Epic & Obix documentation systems
• SBAR communication utilized
• Support services available: Phlebotomy, Respiratory Services, Language Interpretation, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams
• 24/7 provider coverage including Certified Nurse Midwife

Patient Population

• Primarily women of childbearing age in antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum phases
• Level II special care nursery caring for stable newborns ≥ 32 weeks gestation

Required Certifications & Documents

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification
• State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification (for RNs)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency
• Physical exam and health documents including:

  • Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (10-panel including THC) within last 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Skills checklist and employment application

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Compliance with float policy prior to start
• Completion of Healthstream modules (preferably before day 1)
• Photo for badge meeting specific requirements (recent, white background, professional attire)
• Standards of Conduct Agreement signed
• Flu exemption form if applicable
• South Carolina Medicaid exclusion list check updated monthly
