Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Outpatient Transplant Coordinator

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in an ambulatory transplant clinic
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8 day shift)
  • Requires 2 years of nursing experience
  • Transplant and ambulatory care experience preferred, but willing to train on clinic skills
  • Must have a valid DC nursing license at time of application
  • Facility accepts first-time travelers but prefers candidates with previous travel experience
  • Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • DC Registered Nurse License (must have in hand upon submission)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - review required
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
  • State License verification required prior to start

Experience & References

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • For travel contracts, at least 1 completed travel assignment or 1 month of per diem assignment required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB
  • Immunization or titer documentation for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually for extensions/returning candidates
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 23 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • E-Verify attestation required prior to start
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (with remediation if needed), and color blindness testing
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training modules required

Additional Notes

  • Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
  • Clear, professional photo required for badge issuance
  • Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to hire date
  • Documentation and attestations related to drug screening, background checks, and I9/E-Verify must be completed by credentialing staff
