Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, varied start times (may start as early as 5 AM)
Experience Required: Must have pre-op experience (position primarily covers pre-op area)
Travelers: No first-time travelers
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only: Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only: Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- PALS (AHA only: Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as applicable
- ENPC – as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (required, update annually)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required for Telemetry RNs
- State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) (within 30 days of start)
- Tech Cert Verification - National (within 30 days of start)
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; update annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education Verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
- State-specific checks (Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start
Health Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- Fit Mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) – must be updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot) within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire for positive responders
- Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B – positive titer, series (3), or declination; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Drug Testing – negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination (2025-26) required between 10/1/2025 and 3/31/2026; religious or medical exemptions accepted
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
- Competency Exam (as applicable)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Multiple acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:
- Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
- TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
- Patient Centered Pledge
- Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
- Computer Security Agreement
- Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
- Confidentiality Statement
- Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
- Self Identify Form
- Relationship to Physician Form
- Authorization for Background Check
- Traveler Identification Form (must be completed prior to start)
- Facility-specific orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required during orientation
- Parking available for orientation and employment with no fee
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years of start
- Copy of resume/application required
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
