Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Quincy, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Nights with every other weekend off
• Float as needed
• Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:6 (occasionally 1:7)
• Weekly Hours: 36-48 hours, 5 shifts total
• Partial block scheduling accommodation available
• Holiday Return to Office (RTO) allowed if starting in December

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA required for certain units (Cath lab, ER, ICU, PACU, PCU, Tele, CCU, CVICU)
• NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA required for ER, PICU, Pediatrics, PACU
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA required for Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, NICU, Nursery

Preferred but not required:

• CHEMO (Chemotherapy) certification for Oncology
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) for ER

Licensure & Documentation

• State nursing license in hand (Illinois)
• Government-issued photo ID (2 forms of ID required)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • SSN Trace
  • County searches for last 7 years
  • National criminal and sex offender checks
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts acceptable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
• Employment application and work history verification (last 3 years)
• References: At least 2 recent professional references

Competency & Testing Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all travelers)
• Unit-specific competency exams
• Core training parts I, II, III (annual updates required)
• OSHA mandatory training (annual)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 30 days of start, confirming good health and ability to work without restrictions
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or signed declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (various acceptable test options)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity by titer or vaccination series or declination
• Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity by titer, vaccination series, or declination
• Varicella: Proof of immunity by titer, vaccination series, or declination
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, repeated annually (no rapid results accepted)
• Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required prior to start (IL state policy accepts vaccine, medical/religious exemptions, or declinations)

• Completion of computer-based learning modules before start
