Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia

Job Details
- Role: Charge Nurse
- Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
- Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
- Unit: Medical Surgical Unit with remote telemetry and potential medical surgical diagnoses
- Unit Size: 38 beds, average daily census of 33
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Systems Used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes
- Call Requirements: None
- Holiday Work:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major Holidays Include: New Year’s Eve/Day, Spring Break (no RTO), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day
- Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time or assignment start may be delayed by 2 weeks
- Locals Accepted: Yes, at same rate
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – May be required depending on specialty
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required if working in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), ER
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – May be required depending on specialty
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification required)
- State License: Must be valid for Georgia
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required
- Tech Cert Verification: If applicable, national certification verification required
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by Aya)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU) – 3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
Health and Background Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions
- TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B – Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- References: 2 clinical references required by Aya
- Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Required for most recent employer; can be pending at start with proof of processing
Additional Notes
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time
- Floating and working some holidays expected as per policy
- Dress and professional appearance policy must be reviewed and followed
This position offers an opportunity to work in a busy medical surgical unit with a diverse patient population and requires a nurse comfortable with charge responsibilities and telemetry monitoring.
