Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Maryville, Tennessee

Job Description
- Unit: MS / Telemetry (step down from ICU)
- No ventilator or pressor support patients
- Manage drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone
- Sotolol initiation
- Telemetry monitoring
- Experience required in ER holding area
- Must have at least 1 year of EPIC experience
- Floating within the hospital required based on skill set
- Must hold an active Tennessee nursing license
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Required Certifications & Training
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER candidates; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for Pediatric units, ER, PACU; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU and Pediatrics as applicable; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health; cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Medication and Arrhythmia Pass/Fail Testing: Required for all RN candidates (except prebook or non-clinical); passing score 84% with two attempts allowed
- Core Competency Training (Parts I, II, III): Annual training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, TJC National Patient Safety Goals, etc.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA form required, expires annually
- State Nursing License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start; license cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all licenses, must be current within 30 days of start
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year EPIC electronic health record experience
- ER holding area experience required
- Ability to float within hospital units based on skill set
- Experience with telemetry and step-down care from ICU
- Ability to manage drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone
- Experience with sotolol initiation
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
- Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5 panel minimum)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by deadlines
- Respirator Fit Test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS III, Sex Offender, and international searches if applicable
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Photo for badge with specific background and quality requirements
Additional Notes
- Online Cornerstone modules (approx. 12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Floating policy acknowledgment required annually
- Pass/fail testing and medication competency exams are mandatory and time-sensitive
- Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access and ID while on duty
- Background checks and certifications must be current and compliant with facility standards
This position offers a challenging and dynamic environment for experienced RNs with telemetry and step-down care skills, requiring flexibility to float within the hospital and strong competency in EPIC and emergency care settings.
