Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - CVOR Surgical Tech

Location: Paducah, Kentucky

Job Description

• Position: CVOR Surgical Technologist
• Shift: 0600-1430
• Schedule: Every third weekend rotation, plus on-call 2 nights per week
• Requirements:

  • Must have a technical diploma from CST training (no exceptions; high school diploma, CST certification alone, or unrelated college diploma not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience
  • Proficient in cardiac cases and CVOR procedures
  • Skills and knowledge in:

    • Scrubbing
    • Aseptic technique
    • Universal protocol (timeout)
    • Radiation, laser, and fire safety
    • Specimen labeling and handling
    • Sterilization and disinfection
  • Certifications:

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NBSTSA certification

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Education Verification: Must match specialty; diploma or transcript required if verification is unavailable
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Licenses & Certifications:

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, EFM certifications as applicable (AHA or AAP only)
  • State license primary source verification
  • National tech certification verification
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
  • Fit mask test annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers:

    • Tdap within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

• 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
• Employment application required
• Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
• Respiratory fit test waiver available for failed fit tests (religious exemption required for Paducah)
