Position Overview
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Adult Outpatient, Rehab Facility)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Minimum Experience: 1 year outpatient experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 12 weeks (interpreted from 12)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Georgia State OT License
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Patient diagnoses include stroke, orthopedic (shoulder, hands, upper extremity), and neurological conditions (MS, TBI, Guillain-Barré)
- Skills required:
- Assessment, evaluation, discharge planning, plan of care, reassessments
- Lifting and transfer techniques
- Patient and family education
- Safety and injury prevention
- Telephone communication
- Use of adaptive equipment
- Pre-discharge planning
Work Environment & Tools
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Unit systems: Epic (required), SBAR, Outlook Email, Secure Chat
- Dress code: Black scrubs or business casual
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: None required
- Floating: Possible within facility but rare
- Call: None required
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (up to 2 holidays)
Orientation & Compliance
- Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry
- Education verification
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations required or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Additional Competency & Documentation Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (required for RNs and LVNs by agency)
- Color blind testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency exams as applicable (e.g., dysrhythmia/EKG for certain specialties)
- Review and sign facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct and Dress Policy prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
