Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Unit: MS/Tele Nights (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 3 days per week (18:45 to 07:15)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May be required to float between Belleville and Shiloh locations and within the facility
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within a 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 36 hours/week for 3 shifts
    • 48 hours/week for 4 shifts
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit descriptions)

Licensure

  • Must have a valid professional nursing license (Primary source verification required)
  • Illinois permanent license required (no pending licenses accepted)
  • NURSYS verification required for Missouri and Illinois licenses

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks quarterly
  • HHS/OIG checks quarterly
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required (no pending at start)
  • State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois and Missouri
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination required (with exceptions for certain units)
  • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)

Competency & Skills

  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing online required
  • Skills checklist required within 1 year of start (oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit)

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, must score 80% or higher)
  • Hepatitis B Declination (annual)
  • TB Questionnaire (annual)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
  • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment (must adhere or risk being sent home)
  • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates may be required to float within the facility or between nearby locations as needed.
  • No local candidates accepted; must be willing to travel.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • All certifications and background checks must be current and compliant prior to start.
  • Compliance with all facility policies and documentation is mandatory.

This position offers a travel/contract opportunity in a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with a focus on medical-surgical and telemetry nursing during night shifts.
