Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Anchorage, Alaska
Position Details

- Shift start times vary: 06:45-19:15 or 09:00-21:30

- License: Must have Alaska RN license in hand for auto offer; pending license accepted but must be in hand for auto offer
- On-call: Yes, limited to coverage for call-offs
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- Floating: May float to like units within scope if needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 50 miles from facility)
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks; may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Certifications

Licensure & Verification
- Must have valid Alaska RN license
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Background checks and education verifications are required as per Providence Health and Services standards
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit mask testing required for travel nurses (updated annually)
Scheduling & Floating
- May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Time off requests approved on an individual basis and must be submitted with application
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules as assigned (pre-start, specialty-specific, annual regulatory)
- Epic charting training modules required
- Medication competency exams and other unit-specific competencies as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
References & Employment History
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Clarification required for any employment gaps or overlaps
This position is ideal for RNs with OR experience who are licensed in Alaska and seeking a travel contract in a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with a Level II trauma center. The role requires flexibility for weekend shifts, on-call coverage, and potential floating within similar units. Compliance with Providence Health and Services credentialing, background, and training requirements is mandatory.
