Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Kodiak, Alaska
Position Details

- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, variable schedule

- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)

- Trauma Level: Level IV Trauma, Critical Access Hospital
- Beds: 46 Acute Care, 22 Long Term Care
- Charting System: Epic
- Dress Code: Any scrub color or business casual
- Parking: Free
Housing and Transportation
- Housing provided: Typically 1-bedroom apartments, available 72 hours before contract start and up to 24 hours after contract end
- Pets are not allowed
- Housing usually accommodates only the traveler; additional family members require approval
- Housing must be cleaned upon departure or cleaning fees apply
- Vehicle provided: Facility-owned or rental car available 72 hours before start and 24 hours after end
- Only the traveler may operate the vehicle; valid driver’s license and insurance required
- Vehicle use limited to within 30 miles of facility and “around town” only
- Vehicle must be returned clean and with a full tank of gas
- Tire chains available at additional cost
- Vehicle must be returned during time off and reissued upon return
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and others as required
- Annual updates required
- Special state-specific searches for Washington and Oregon as applicable
Licenses and Verifications
- State professional license copy and verification (NURSYS verification required for RNs)
- Education verification for nursing degree (or related degree for allied/non-clinical)
- Transcript/diploma required if international education
- Other certifications as applicable (IV certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, etc.)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (onsite required)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Competency and Skills
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Color blind testing if required by unit
- Competency exams as required by specialty
References and Employment History
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in last 3 years (supervisor references)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
- Explanation for any employment gaps or overlaps
Facility-Specific Training and Modules
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core modules for profession and region
- Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, leadership roles
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Epic training modules completion required (specific to facility and region)
Additional Requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities nearby)
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)
- Various state-specific and facility-specific attestations and forms as applicable
