Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Major Teaching Hospital, Level II Trauma
Beds: 330 staffed beds
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
Work Environment & Details
- Scrub Color: Black scrubs (Cabell T-Shirt allowed instead of scrub top)
- Surgery Reporting: Must change into provided surgery scrubs
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Free for travelers (lot and garage available)
Required Credentials & Certifications
- Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Valid State Nursing License (Primary Source Verification required)
- ACLS (AHA only, as required)
- BLS (AHA only)
- PALS (AHA only, as required)
- NRP (as required)
- TNCC (as required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except OR; must be current or completed onsite within 2 weeks of start)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for ICU
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Background check within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal
- International background check if lived/worked abroad
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters may pend at start per CDC guidelines
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters may pend at start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination (required 11/1-3/31; declinations not accepted unless approved medical or religious exemption)
- COVID-19 Seasonal Vaccination (required; initial series preferred; declination form required if opting out)
- Drug Testing: Must meet facility-specific requirements; drug screen within 30 days of start including a comprehensive panel
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation and annual education modules prior to or within one week of start
- Completion of confidentiality agreement, attestation forms, and IT access agreements before start
- N95 fit test onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean-shaven)
- Creation of facility account prior to start for timekeeping
- Submission and approval of any medical or religious exemptions for flu and vaccine requirements prior to start
Competency & Skills Verification
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- General competency exams required
- Core HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgements required
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
References & Evaluations
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluations required if employed over 1 year
- Internal evaluations required if employed over 2 years
- Complete employment application/resume required
