Description

Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
Shift: Monday - Friday, Days (6:15 AM - 4:45 PM) with variable day off
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Radiology/Radiation Therapist specializing in Brachytherapy within Radiation Oncology
  • Department: Procedure-based, also administers radiopharmaceuticals
  • Daily Caseload: 8 - 15 patients
  • Previous Brachytherapy experience preferred but not required
  • Must complete Radiation Safety exam within the first week
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • No floating to sister facilities
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • Locals not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending state license accepted
  • No block schedule accommodation

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • First-timers accepted
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • ARRT (T) - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate HDR (High Dose Rate) units
  • Assist in brachytherapy implants
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals as directed by Authorized User/Authorized Medical Physicist (AU/AMP)
  • Sensitivity training highly preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Education verification of highest related education required
  • State-specific searches and fingerprinting as applicable

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI/MAB as applicable by unit
  • Medication and competency exams required, including oncology competency if assigned to oncology units
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for monitor techs (if applicable)

Health & Safety

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing annually (N95 respirators required)
  • Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB testing, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Facility-Specific Documents

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education, Hep B Declination, TB Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy, Vehicle Registration (day shift only)
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)

References & History

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Performance evaluations may be requested

  • No scrub color requirement
  • No call or weekend shifts
  • No floating to sister facilities
  • Sensitivity training highly preferred due to patient population and procedures
