Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Requirements & Details

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)

  • Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics

  • Certifications Required:

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Work Setting:

    • Mixed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) and Intermediate patients
    • Small neuro population
    • Respiratory, cardiac, mixed medical patients
    • Titrating cardiac drips required
    • Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on acuity and staffing
  • Staffing Ratio: 1:4-5 (high staffing ratio)

  • Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR

  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue


Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holidays:
    • Expected to work if 1 or 2 major holidays fall during assignment
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
    • Major holidays include New Year’s Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day
    • No additional Christmas RTO accepted

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance results in 2-week push back due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 hours for 14-week assignment)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Photo ID: Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • Education Verification: Related degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • State License: Georgia RN license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU)
    • Up to 3 attempts allowed; failure on 3rd attempt results in cancellation

Additional Notes

  • Floating within the facility is required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position offers a diverse patient population and a dynamic work environment with a focus on telemetry and intermediate care nursing. Compliance with all documentation, certifications, and competency requirements is mandatory for timely onboarding.
