Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Orthopedic Surgical Tech
Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work with the Orthopedic team, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- On-call 1 night per week and every 3rd weekend
- Strong Orthopedic experience required, including CFA (Certified First Assistant)
- Formal CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) education required; on-the-job training is not accepted
- Must provide a technical diploma from CST training for compliance (no exceptions)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Scrub experience in General Surgery, ENT, Dental, GYN, Urology, Plastics, Neuro, Ortho/Spine, Orthopedics, Vascular, and DaVinci Robotics
- Epic experience preferred
- Scrub supplies provided
Required Certifications & Licenses
- CST certification with technical diploma (no on-the-job training accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, name must match legal name
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM certifications as applicable (AHA/AAP only)
- State License verification (primary source)
- NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, and other specialty-specific certifications as required
- NURSYS verification for applicable nursing roles
Background & Education Verification
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification is unavailable
- KY State Abuse Registry check required for Home Health specialties
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
- Fit mask test annually; failed fit tests require waiver (religious exemption accepted at this location)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; no declinations accepted
- Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption required; facility-specific exemption form must be completed
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
- Employment application required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, solid light background)
Work Environment & Notes
- Scrub supplies provided
- Must comply with facility-specific policies on flu and COVID vaccinations, including exemptions
- Religious exemption required for respiratory fit test waiver at this location
