Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 21 weeks
Job Overview
- Unit: Med-Surg Telemetry (primarily MS patient population)
- Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
- Float to other units as needed
- May serve as Charge RN if needed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Must pass a mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding
- BLS certification required
- EPIC experience required
- Patient ratio: 1:6
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to strict attendance policies (zero tolerance for tardiness/unexcused absences)
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Use of Rapid Response teams
- Blood product administration
- Peripheral line care management and IV starts
- Administration of Heparin, insulin, PCA
- Nasal cannula oxygen delivery
- Isolation precautions
Certifications & Testing
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (must score 82% or higher, max 2 attempts)
- EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, 80% passing score)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (check unit specifics)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams (80% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing (if applicable)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State RN license verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma as applicable
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years
- Two supervisory references (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist (must be updated within one week grace period)
- Facility-specific documents including floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, dress code, health history form, and affiliate packet
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire, forward-facing)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (annual, approved N95 respirators required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
- TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive titer proof
- Hepatitis B titer or declination with booster documentation
- Varicella immunization or positive titer proof
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required by 10/20)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and accept the 21-week contract length (no option for 13 weeks)
- Must be aware of and comply with all facility policies and testing requirements
- Floating to other units is mandatory as needed
- Charge RN duties may be assigned
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry patients, night shifts, and a fast-paced hospital environment requiring flexibility and adherence to strict compliance and testing standards.
