Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital
Beds: 426 staffed beds
Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center
Charting System: EPIC (preferred)
Schedule:
- 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Will float to other MedSurg units as needed
Required Certifications
- Chemotherapy Certification (Chemo cert required; must be through ONS for Oncology unit)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) — check unit description
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check (must be updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation for internationally educated RNs
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start (CT license must be applied for within 72 hours of start)
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 85%) within 12 months of start
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024; must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, and all ICU units (not required for Neuro ICU, SICU, NICU)
Facility-Specific Training & Documents (Required for RNs)
- Stroke Education Module and Attestation (not required for Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (not required at some campuses)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness Module
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health) - must be updated annually
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for most clinical roles except some techs and home health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required as of 5/31/2024; new module required if gap >6 months or updated)
- EPIC Testing (required if EPIC experience noted and candidate opts out of onsite training)
- Vaccination Booster Medical Exemption Form (if applicable)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start; must be updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination preferred for Pediatric, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (Tdap declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (TB questionnaire required annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted (declination must be within 1 year)
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician documented history; boosters required if low/equivocal
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred (initial series)
Employment History & Documentation
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification required for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
- Skills checklist within 12 months of start
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech and specialty roles

- 12 weeks (interpreted from contract_length value)
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float to other MedSurg units as needed
