Job Description

  • ACLS and BLS certification required (AHA only).
  • Background with electrophysiology required.
  • No on-call time; must remain on shift until electrophysiology procedures for the day are complete.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, name must match legal name.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, name must match legal name.
  • State Nursing License (Primary Source Verification) - name must match legal name.
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs).
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI).

Background & Education Verification

  • 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Education verification required prior to start; diploma or transcript may be used if verification is unavailable.
  • Highest level of education diploma or official transcripts required for nursing positions.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards).
  • Fit mask test required annually; failed fit tests require waiver and religious exemption documentation.
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations required:
    • Measles (Rubeola) - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer (declinations not accepted).
    • Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer (declinations not accepted).
    • Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer (declinations not accepted).
    • Hepatitis B - Surface antibody titer, series, or declination required.
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer (declinations not accepted).
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.

Drug Testing

  • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana, opiates).
  • Facility requires 5-panel, but 9-panel is agency standard.

Competencies & Skills

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Color blind testing required prior to start.
  • Unit-specific competency exams required (not for non-clinical).
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually (not for non-clinical).

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background).
  • 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical).
  • Employment application required.
  • Performance evaluations completed by unit managers (not required prior to start).

Additional Notes

  • If driving is a major job function, a current driver’s license is required.
  • Religious exemption required for fit test waiver in Paducah location.
  • Facility-specific exemption forms required for flu and COVID vaccine exemptions.

This position is ideal for RNs with electrophysiology experience seeking a travel contract in Kentucky with no on-call duties and a defined contract length of approximately 13 weeks.
