Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Bern, North Carolina

Job Details

• Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (07:00 AM - 04:00 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend required
• Experience: Minimum 1 year acute care experience required
• First Time Travelers: Accepted

Patient Population & Setting

• Variety of acute diagnoses
• Units include ICU, Neurology, and CVIMC
• Acute speech services primarily focused on dysphagia, also language and communication disorders

Special Procedures / Unit Details

• Modified Barium Swallow (MBS)
• Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
• State License

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Social Security trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3
• Education verification (required for clinical positions)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Certifications

• BLS (ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted)
• State License primary source verification required (no license hits accepted)
• Other certifications as applicable (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) may be required depending on role

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start and updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines, titers, or declinations accepted)
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccine or documented exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination status requested but not required

Competencies & Evaluations

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Core competency testing or HIPAA acknowledgment required
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
• Performance evaluations required if previously employed over 1 year with the facility

References & Employment History

• Two professional references within 12 months required (one must be from supervisor or charge nurse)
• Resume/application required
• Work history verification required only for non-clinical positions
