Description

Radiology / Cardiology X-Ray Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Days, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (07:00 - 15:30)

Experience & Skills

  • OR experience preferred
  • General skills required: PACS and portable X-Ray equipment
  • Preferred skills: C-Arms
  • X-Ray procedures: Head, Extremities, Abdomen/GI, Spine/Pelvis
  • Equipment preferred: GE, PACS

Work Settings

  • Adult acute care
  • Adult outpatient
  • Bedside procedures
  • Emergency Room (ER)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Operating Room (OR)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • ARRT R (Registered Radiologic Technologist)

Preferred Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for RNs/LPNs in ED or Pediatrics (not required for ED only)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as required by unit
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required by unit
  • Tech Cert Verification - National (Certified OR Tech / Certified Surgical Tech preferred)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
  • State License verification prior to start
  • NIH Stroke Certification as required by unit

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, within 3 years)
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
  • Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, within 3 years)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam for RNs in cardiac and critical care specialties (annual update required, 80% overall score, 100% lethal rhythms section)

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually (does not include marijuana)
  • Employment application with 7 years work history, no gaps
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in past 3 years
  • Work history verification: minimum 2 years employment in past 7 years, including at least 1 travel or per diem assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; if prior positive, chest x-ray or annual questionnaire required
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use for patient encounters

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
  • Clear photo for badge (face centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Completion of facility-specific modules prior to start
  • Annual acknowledgment of safety manual
  • Compliance with facility-specific drug screen, background check, and I9/E-Verify attestations

This position is suitable for first-time travelers with a strong background in radiology/cardiology X-Ray technology.
