Job Opportunity: Electromyography (EMG) Technologist
Job Description
The Electromyography Technologist works under the Director of Neurodiagnostic Services to perform nerve conduction studies and assist physicians with needle examinations both in the laboratory and at the patient's bedside.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Provide care to young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, administrators, and staff.
- Problem-solve and resolve technical issues related to EMG procedures.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills.
- Utilize strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient history, anatomy, and technical skills relevant to EMG.
- Assemble and disassemble EMG equipment for each patient case.
- Ensure proper functioning of EMG equipment.
- Perform accurate electrode placement and operate EMG machine components proficiently.
- Follow proper cleaning procedures for equipment.
- Record test responses and differentiate between normal and abnormal results.
- Enter data accurately into electronic health records and hospital billing systems.
- Compile monthly statistics related to EMG testing.
- Teach and precept co-workers and students in the field.
