Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Evanston, Illinois
Facility: Hospital within a health system

Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, night shift)
• Contract Length: 6 weeks
• Call Requirement: None
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: If holiday falls on scheduled shift
• Floating Requirement: Must be willing to float to other facilities within the health system if needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience & Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must have an active Illinois nursing license (no pending licenses accepted)
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restrictions

Certifications Required

• CPR
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Conscious Sedation
• IV Start
• Telemetry
• Ventilator management

Preferred Qualifications

• Level 1 Trauma Experience
• Triage experience

• Epic

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I-9 verification by authorized representative
• Government-issued photo ID
• Standard background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender registry
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• State license primary source verification
• Pass/Fail EKG and Medication competency exams required for RNs (not required for OR or ISCU RNs or techs)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required prior to start (except OR/ISCU RNs, techs)
• Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (TD acceptable for non-clinical with prior Tdap)
• Negative TB test (QGOLD or TSPOT within 90 days) or negative chest X-ray if history of positive TB
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer required; declination or booster acceptable for low titer)
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Dec 8 - Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation
• Vision testing (Snellen near/far) within 1 year of start
• Color blindness testing (Ishihara) within 1 year of start
• Two professional references required

Facility-Specific Notes

• Candidates must complete a photo for badge following specific guidelines (clear, color, white/light background, vertical orientation)
• Facility-specific training modules will be assigned and completed on-site during the assignment
• EKG exam is a closed book test with strict passing criteria; failure results in contract termination
• Confidentiality agreement required
