Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Facility: Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm-7am)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • AHA BLS & ACLS certification required
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
  • One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty required (Charge RN references accepted)

Orientation & Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test required during orientation; passing scores mandatory
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Pass/Fail ECG & medication testing required for all bedside RNs (except OR) during orientation

Certifications & Competencies

  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
    • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)
  • Other Certifications:
    • PALS preferred but not required
    • TNCC preferred but not required
    • Chemotherapy certification not required for Oncology
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly checks
  • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required within 48 hours of signed contract and must be updated annually
    • Fingerprints must be completed under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
    • Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
    • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if prints are completed prior to start
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • State-specific fingerprint attestation required for Ohio

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start (annual updates required)
  • TB questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
  • Flu vaccine exemption attestation must be completed by agency if applicable

Employment History & References

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar specialty
  • Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; videos must be watched before tests
  • Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some requirements waived (e.g., pass/fail testing, module completion)
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification

This position requires strict adherence to all listed requirements and certifications. No exceptions will be made.
