Job Opportunity: Nuclear Med Tech (Travel)

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Nuclear Medicine
  • Shift: Days (5x8)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Call Requirements: Takes call according to monthly schedule, after regular department hours
  • Number of Openings: 1

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of Radiology Sciences with certification in nuclear medicine
  • Certification/Registration: NMTCB or ARRT(N) Registry or Registry eligible (must achieve registry within 2 months of eligibility)
  • Licensure: If practicing in Arkansas, a Nuclear Medicine Technologist License is required
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1+ years in Nuclear Medicine

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals and materials
  • Calculate and administer doses under direct supervision of a Radiologist
  • Calibrate equipment
  • Assess patient understanding of exams and obtain informed consent
  • Instruct and prepare patients for exams
  • Perform diagnostic exams as prescribed by physicians
  • Monitor and inform physicians of changes in patient condition during testing
  • Ensure care and safety of patients undergoing exams
  • Use scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation and produce images
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors
  • Follow radiation safety techniques and policies for use and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Provide age-appropriate care (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, general population)
  • Practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures
