Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Job Details

  • Unit: 9 BSH Night – MS/PCU
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Required Skills:
    • Telemetry experience
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • Accepts first-time travelers
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity within the hospital system

Required Documentation & Compliance

Licensure & Certifications

  • State License Verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RNs
  • ACLS and BLS certifications must be AHA approved (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable; letter of completion not accepted)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units (2-year expiration)

Background Checks & Screening

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and MVR if driving is required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code (3701.881)
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation confirmation required immediately after contract signing (accredited nursing program verification)
  • Transcript/Diploma verification required (including foreign education verification if applicable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Adult Tdap vaccination (not Td or DTaP) required
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; declination accepted
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Facility Policies & Additional Requirements

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at a Fast Fingerprints location or via mail-in if remote
  • Fingerprinting results can take 1-2 weeks (longer if mailed)
  • Background check and fingerprinting hits require additional documentation and adjudication
  • Floating within units of equivalent or lower acuity is mandatory
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
