Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Facility: Hospital within Jefferson Health system

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: Tuesday to Friday, start times 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
• Schedule: No weekends, no on-call required
• Floating: Required to float between SPU, Pain Center, and PACU
• Uniform: Ceil Blue scrubs
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner system

Unit & Experience

• Work in Pain Center with 2 procedure rooms and 5 office rooms
• Experience preferred in procedural areas (GI, OR, Moderate Sedation), pre/post-op, and outpatient surgery center
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
• Procedural experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

• Must hold a Pennsylvania or compact nursing license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) may be required depending on unit
• State license primary source verification required
• NURSYS verification required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
  • PA-specific PATCH background check required
  • Fingerprinting through PA Department of Human Services required within 5 years of start and updated every 5 years (for PA placements only)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 2 months of start
  • Fit test within 12 months prior to start (3M 1870+ mask model required)
  • Current Tdap vaccine or titer
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest x-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask use at work
• Education Verification:

  • Highest level of education verified; official transcript acceptable
• References:

  • Two professional references within 2 years of start
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)

Orientation & Training

• Facility-specific modules assigned by Jefferson Education Department; must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
• Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing required
• Photo for badge required prior to start

Additional Notes

• No weekend or call responsibilities
• Floating between multiple units required
• Procedural and outpatient surgery experience preferred
• Cerner EHR system used
