Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Facility: Hospital within Jefferson Health system
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Shift: Tuesday to Friday, start times 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Schedule: No weekends, no on-call required
- Floating: Required to float between SPU, Pain Center, and PACU
- Uniform: Ceil Blue scrubs
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner system
Unit & Experience
- Work in Pain Center with 2 procedure rooms and 5 office rooms
- Experience preferred in procedural areas (GI, OR, Moderate Sedation), pre/post-op, and outpatient surgery center
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
- Procedural experience preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Must hold a Pennsylvania or compact nursing license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) may be required depending on unit
- State license primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- PA-specific PATCH background check required
- Fingerprinting through PA Department of Human Services required within 5 years of start and updated every 5 years (for PA placements only)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 2 months of start
- Fit test within 12 months prior to start (3M 1870+ mask model required)
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest x-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask use at work
- Education Verification:
- Highest level of education verified; official transcript acceptable
- References:
- Two professional references within 2 years of start
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)
Orientation & Training
- Facility-specific modules assigned by Jefferson Education Department; must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing required
- Photo for badge required prior to start
Additional Notes
- No weekend or call responsibilities
- Floating between multiple units required
- Procedural and outpatient surgery experience preferred
- Cerner EHR system used
