Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Westwood, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit Beds: 23
- Patient Ratio: 1:6-7
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW) or less
- Documentation System: EPIC required
- Experience: 2 years preferred; 1st time travelers accepted with sufficient Med/Surg experience
- Uniform: White top and navy pants

- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- State License Verification (Primary source online verification)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
- Competency Exams (minimum passing score 80% or Angoff score)
- Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)
Background and Documentation Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (highest level required)
- Work history verification for 7 years (NJ requires minimum 1 year verified with no gaps over 30 days)
- Skills checklist annually (unit specific)
- Complete application/resume required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (for positive TB results)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers with sufficient Med/Surg experience are welcome
- Documentation and credentialing requirements are strict and must be current
- Weekend work is required every other weekend or less
This position offers an opportunity to work in a 23-bed unit with a moderate patient ratio, requiring a broad range of acute care nursing skills, especially in Med/Surg and telemetry. Candidates must be prepared to meet comprehensive certification, competency, background, and health documentation requirements.
