Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Newnan, Georgia
Facility: Hospital within Piedmont Healthcare system


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Unit Details:
    • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
    • Call: None
    • Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (no first-time travelers accepted)
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include:
    Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time, otherwise start delayed by 2 weeks
  • Non-Billable Orientation Hours: Determined by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Requirements & Compliance

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience required
  • Unit does not accept first-time travelers

Certifications (must be current and valid)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for many specialties including ER, PACU, Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, etc.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required except for some tech roles
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RN’s in PACU, ER, and other pediatric-accepting areas
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required if specialty indicates
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire; no re-certification required
  • State License: Must be licensed in Georgia (for CRTs & RRTs)
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
  • Tech Cert Verification: National certification verification if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty

Background & Education

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Diplomas required for Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)

Competency Exams (Aya required, not client)

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam for RNs and LVNs
  • Color Blind Testing (all candidates) with alternative assessment if needed
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for specific units (ER, ICU, Telemetry, etc.) with max 3 attempts

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (Aya requirement)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Documentation & Policies

  • Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
  • Delineation of Privileges document required only for certain surgical specialties (CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant, RNFA)

References & Work History

  • Two clinical references required (Aya requirement)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Manager review of candidate profile and schedule fit within 48 hours after confirmation
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
