Description

Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Shift: 12:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Local candidates are also considered
  • Black scrubs required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable. Required for all RNs, X-Ray Techs, RN Managers, Polysomnographer/Sleep Tech, CSTs, EEG Tech, LVN/LPN, RRTs, CT Techs at this location.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable. Required for Interventional Radiology RN, RN Manager, ED, Adult Critical Care Units, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D. Preferred for Behavioral Health.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for RRT-NICU, L&D, Mother Baby, Newborn, NICU, Nursery, Antepartum, and Special Care Nursery.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ED, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, PICU, and Pediatric units.
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for adult chemo; APHON certification required for pediatric chemo.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs. Online portion must be completed prior to start; in-person portion within 14 days of start.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for Adult Critical Care specialties, ER, Telemetry, MS/Tele, Cath Lab units. Must be updated annually.
  • Tech Certification Verification (National): Required as applicable for allied professionals (e.g., ARRT or RCIS for Cardiac Cath Lab, ASCP preferred for Pathology Assistant, NBRC for RRTs, PTCB for Pharmacy Techs). Confirm with Program Coordinator for specific roles.

Licenses & Verifications

  • State License Verification: Must match legal last name with suffixes; name changes must be documented.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP as applicable.
  • Employment Application/Resume: Must include 7 years of work history with all gaps accounted for.
  • Work History Verification: New Jersey candidates must have at least 1 year prior work history verified with no gaps over 30 days.
  • References: Two references within last 2 years required; at least one managerial reference.

Background & Screening Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check: Required within 30 days of start, including all aliases and locations worked/lived in past 7 years. No open cases allowed.
  • E-Verify: Required to clear.
  • Drug Screen: 10-panel urine drug screen required within 30 days of start. Blood tests not accepted.
  • MVR/DMV Checks: MVR/DMV hits do not require facility review for this location.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Must be run on all aliases within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
  • New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List: Must be run on all aliases within 30 days of start and for extensions.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start; must clear candidate to perform essential job functions and be free of communicable disease.
  • TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 3 months of start. For past positive TB history, additional clearance and physician documentation required.
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IgG titer or proof of vaccination series required.
    • Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Hepatitis B: Positive surface antibody titer required or compliance with vaccine series or declination statement.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within past 10 years; declinations not accepted.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Mandatory annually during flu season (September to April) or approved medical/religious exemption with masking requirements.
  • Fit Test: On-site fit testing mandatory prior to start for respirator use; facial hair must be shaved unless accommodation approved.
  • Latex Allergy Screening: Required if job tasks involve glove use; accommodations handled case-by-case.
  • Respiratory Medical Clearance: Required prior to start; must be updated annually.

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RNs and LPNs; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for ED, Telemetry, PCU, Observation Units, IMC, Step-Down, Adult Critical Care, PACU, Cath Lab, Educators.
  • Color Blind Testing: Required within 1 year of start if job tasks require color discrimination; passing score required.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Pharmacology and EKG exams required for applicable clinical staff; candidates have 3 attempts to pass. Remediation required after first failure.

Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements

  • Annual Education Sign-Off: Must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
  • Floating Policy: Must be completed for every new assignment or site transfer.
  • Vendor Medical Clearance Form: Required for candidates with history of positive TB.
  • Baxter Orientation: Required for RNs only; must watch videos and sign attestation prior to start.
  • Fit Test Questionnaire: Must be submitted within 48 hours of confirmation.
  • Suspected Abuse or Neglect Education: Required for patient-facing candidates; must review and sign attestation prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • Black scrubs are required for this position.
  • Candidates switching between RWJ sites with less than 30 days gap may use previously submitted documentation if within required timeframes.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
