Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year dialysis nursing experience
- First-timers: Accepted
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Yes; night & Sunday call for emergent dialysis
- Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: More than 7 days off requires approval
- Guaranteed Hours: 36-40 hours/week; facility may call off 3 times during 13-week assignment
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA or ARC; RQI not acceptable)
- BLS (AHA or ARC; RQI not acceptable)
- PALS (if applicable; AHA or ARC; RQI not acceptable)
- NRP (for NICU, L&D, Mother/Baby; RQI not acceptable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- MOAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) for Behavioral Health units
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIH Stroke Certification (any vendor acceptable)
- State License: Must have original New Mexico license with 3D seal for applicable areas
- NURSYS Verification (active and unencumbered license required)
- Tech Certification (for allied professionals, if applicable)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Testing: Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required for dialysis and other specified units; must score 80% overall and 100% on lethal arrhythmia section
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Fit Mask test required within 1 year (specific mask models accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (negative result required)
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
Background & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
- Education verification required; diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (NM Department of Health clearance)
- Work history verification for 3 years minimum
- Two professional references within 3 years of hire
- Skills checklist required
- Various facility-specific documents and attestations (e.g., traveler compliance form, confidentiality statement, emergency contact form)
Additional Notes
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- Location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation
- Facility allows 3 call-offs during the 13-week assignment
- Candidates must complete Cerner training attestation or test out during orientation
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam is mandatory starting with the 8/4/25 orientation group
- Candidates have two attempts to pass required exams before potential cancellation
