Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Facility: Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit (primarily MS patients)
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), every other week (EOW)
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 4 holidays (Christmas Eve or Day, New Year's Eve or Day)
- Float: Required to float across all facilities within the health system as needed
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers are welcome
- Patient Population:
- Observation patients
- Respiratory conditions
- General Medical Surgical diagnoses
- Palliative, End of Life, Hospice patients
- Psychiatric Observation
- Diabetes (new and complicated cases)
- Surgical and surgical observation patients
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC system used
- Preferred: Previous Charge RN experience
Requirements & Certifications
- Mandatory Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Pass/fail EKG exam required during onboarding (all RNs)
- Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - may be preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for Cardiac Progressive Care and MS/Tele units
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - may be preferred
- Testing:
- Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (minimum 82% to pass, 2 attempts allowed)
- EPIC competency test (2 attempts allowed, 80% to pass)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80% to pass)
- Color Blind Testing (online) as applicable
- Licensure:
- Valid North Carolina RN license with primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Documentation
- Background Check:
- Must be completed within 60 days of start
- Includes aliases, social security trace, national criminal search, federal court, sex offender registry, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- No open hits allowed; all cases must be cleared before start
- Education Verification:
- Associate's degree in nursing or higher required
- Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained outside the U.S.
- References:
- Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Work History:
- 7 years of work history required on employment application/resume
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years required
- Photo for Badge:
- Strict photo requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators)
- Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
Additional Notes
- Zero tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
- Floating across facilities is mandatory for travelers
- Candidates must complete and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
