Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hour option)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • Licensing: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
  • Assessments:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test during orientation (passing score required)
  • Documentation Submission: Hours worked submitted via Qualivis – Lotus system

Required Credentials & Compliance

Background Checks

  • Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 48 hours of contract signing, valid within 12 months and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting code: 4723.09 (Nursing)
  • Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if completed prior to start

Certifications

  • BLS & ACLS: AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted
  • PALS: Preferred for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Pediatric OR; not required for Med/Surg Tele
  • NRP: Required for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU (not required here)
  • TNCC: Preferred but not required for ER
  • Tech Cert Verification: Required for CVOR and similar specialties (not required here)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing: ECG and medication competency testing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with <6 month gap)
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start; license must be current
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred but not required for Med/Surg Tele

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates starting 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Modules include facility-specific safety and procedural training
  • Pass/fail ECG and medication tests completed onsite during orientation
  • Candidates returning with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived

Employment History & References

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
  • Two professional references required from recent employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment
  • Must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required assessments and documentation timely to avoid delays

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system, working night shifts with comprehensive support and clear credentialing requirements.
