Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 4x12 hour night shifts (48 hours per week)
  • Every other weekend required (6-7 shifts)
  • Every other holiday required
  • Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity level

Unit & Patient Ratios

  • Ratios: 1:6
  • Units: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Cerner electronic health record experience required
  • Skills required:
    • MS/Tele
    • Cardiac Monitoring
    • Genitourinary/Renal care
    • IV therapy/Phlebotomy

Certifications & Exams

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for MS/Tele and ICU units
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Flu vaccine required (no onsite vaccination; must be obtained externally) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing during patient encounters
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year, updated annually
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start, including multiple substances (excluding marijuana)

Background & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • Employment verification of minimum 2 years experience within past 7 years (including at least 1 travel assignment)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in last 3 years
  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment

Additional Requirements

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Color blindness testing required (online or in-person)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years, minimum 80% score
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually with remediation if needed
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Facility Policies

  • Float assignments within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Must comply with all facility-specific modules and training prior to start
  • Must comply with all health and safety policies including mask fit testing (N95 fit test within 9 months, updated annually)

This position requires a highly skilled RN with cardiac monitoring and telemetry experience, strong EKG interpretation skills, and the ability to work nights with a demanding schedule including weekends and holidays. Compliance with extensive health, background, and certification requirements is mandatory.
